Chasqui 1 is a Peruvian nanosatellite built by the Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería del Peru.
The 1 kg satellite is built on the 1U-CubeSat form factor. It is powered by fixed solar cells on each side to charge their
batteries. The payload consist of a camera operting in the visible and infra-red spectrum.
Mission details:
Launched on February 5, 2014 on board of the Progress-M 22M cargo craft to the ISS to be deployed from the ISS Kibo airlock.
On Aug 18, 2014 astronauts Skvortsov and Artemev (exp.40) made spacewalk VKD-39 from the Pirs module. The airlock was depressurized
at 1340 UTC and the hatch opened at 1402 UTC.
At 1423 UTC Artemev hand-launched the 1U cubesat Chasqui-1, a joint Peruvian-Russian project. Chasqui-1 was built by the Universidad
Nacional de Ingenieria in Lima and the Yugo-Zapadniy gosudarstvenniy universitet (Southwest State University) in Kursk.
