16 Feb 2012	-	6h 15m	Kononenko and A.Shkaplerov; mission Soyuz TMA-03M The tasks included: space crane Strela 1 relocation from DC1 to MRM2, using Strela 2, jettison MLI (Multi-Layer Insulation) cover, installing the Strela 1 on MRM2 (to aid future EVAs), stowing Strela 2 at DC1, installing the Vinoslivost Materials Sample Experiment on the DC1, taking a sample from the MLI insulation of the SM to look for any signs of living organisms and collecting one (of two planned) samples from the "Test" experiment.

Graduated from Kharkov Aviation Institute KhAI in 1988 as a mechanical engineer/aircraft engine specialist; in 1990 graduated from the Postgraduate Courses of the Kuibyshev Aviation Institute (Samara) where he specialized in automation of control systems design; after graduation from the Kharkov Aviation Institute he worked at the Central Design Bureau in Samara as an engineer, design engineer and leading design engineer; was selected as cosmonaut on 29.03.1996 and transferred as civilian to the ('Tsentr Podgotovki Kosmonavtov (Cosmonaut Training Center) TsPK-Group of Air Force; ('Obshchekosmicheskaya Podgotovka = General Space Training') OKP (cosmonaut basic training): 03.06.1996 - 18.03.1998;
For commander Oleg Kononenko, the Soyuz MS-11 was the fourth flight into Earth orbit.
At the moment, he is the record for the duration of his stay on the International Space Station - 737 days.
In this expedition Oleg Kononenko made two spacewalks:
- The first one on December 11-12, 2018 together with cosmonaut Sergey Prokopyev, lasting 7 hours and 45 minutes.
- The second on May 29-30, 2019 together with the cosmonaut Alexey Ovchinin, lasting 6 hours 1 minute.
