Description:

• AMAZONAS 4A, manufactured by Orbital Sciences Corp., is operating at 61 degrees west longitude, giving the satellite's 24 Ku-band transponders coverage over South America. The satellite will reinforce communications infrastructure to broadcast World Cup football matches and the 2016 Summer Olympics also to be held in Brazil. Amazonas 4A is the fourth Hispasat satellite focusing on Latin America.
• Satellite performance will be 46 to 48.5 dBW throughout the South American mainland.

Mission details:

• Arianespace put two communications satellites in a 260 x 35690 km x 3.0 deg GTO on Mar 22. Both satellites are carrying out orbit raising burns on their way to geostationary orbit.
  Amazonas 4A is a 2938 kg Orbital GeoStar-2.4 for Hispasat of Spain, and was in a 27450 x 35715 km x 0.3 deg orbit on Mar 27, 2014.
