Flight:
Summary: Second crew of Skylab-Spacestation; scientific
work, including medical research and solar observation; test with a new
developed "chair"; observation of the behavior of small animals (spiders
and fishes) in the microgravity; EVA`s: from Garriott and Lousma at
06.08.1973 (6h 31m), Garriott and Lousma at 24.08.1973 (4h 30m), Bean and
Garriott at 22.09.1973 (2h 41m); they conducted repairing work on the
station and recovered film cassettes; crew was in better condition after
landing, than the Skylab-2 crew.
Owen Garriott and Jack Lousma perform a 4 hour and 31 minute EVA on Aug 24, 1973. |

Continued maintenance of the Skylab space station and extensive scientific and medical experiments. Installed twinpole solar shield on EVA; performed major inflight maintenance; doubled record for length of time in space. Completed 858 Earth orbits and 1,081 hours of solar and Earth experiments; three EVAs totalled 13 hours, 43 minutes.
