The objective is to use the microsatellite INDEX as

a demonstration satellite of advanced engineering technologies, and
to support of a small-scale astronomical science mission (fine structural observation of the aurora).

Mission details:

For orbital testing of elementary technology, particularly light beam acquisition, tracking and directional control for optical intersatellite communications, an important element of future space technology.
