Araks 1
The Araks is a new area reconnaisance satellite, which has reportedly a
resolution of 2 - 10 m (panchromatic and infra red). Its high orbit gives it a
longer loitering time over the target. The platform, named Arkon by the
manufacturer NPO Lavochkin, is a development of the proven Mars / Venera
interplanetary platforms.
(Note: There is still some confusion, wether Araks is
the name of the satellite and Arkon the name of the platform or vice versa).
