An Atlas 5 rocket launches the NROL-38 payload for the National Reconnaissance Office. Liftoff of the Atlas 5 rocket, which
flew in the minimal 401 configuration with no solid rocket motors, took place at 8:28am EDT June 20. It was
the 50th mission for the EELV (Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle) program which began with the Atlas 5 and
Delta 4 debuts in August & November, 2002, respectively.
