Ariane 5G

ESA

The Ariane 5 launcher for Flight 140 rolled out on March 7, 2001 to the ELA-3 launch zone, taking the final step before tomorrow evening's liftoff. The pictures below show the transfer of the first Ariane 5 of 2001.

The final assembly building's huge door is opened to reveal the completed Ariane 5 for the first time. The heavy-lift vehicle is on its mobile launch table, which will be to the launch zone by a special tug.

Ariane 5 is in position in the launch zone, surrounded by two of the massive lightning protection towers.
