Qased rocket

Iran

Qased (Noor 1)(IRNA)

  • Qased is the third Iranian space launcher. It is unlike the earlier launchers operated by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Aerospace force. It is apparently based on the Shahab-3 MRBM or Ghadr MRBM missile similar in size to the Safir rocket.
  • Qased has been described as a three stage launch vehicle using liquid- and solid-fueled stages, capable of putting a 40 kg payload into low earth orbit. Stage 1 is liquid-fueled. The second stage is reportedly the Salman solid rocket motor. No details are so far known.
  • The first orbital flight took place in April 2020 from the Shahroud missile range, using a mobile transporter erector launcher (TEL) similar to the one used with the Emad SRBM. Possibly one or more suborbital test flights with only two active stages have taken place in 2019.
