- The LM-2F, which is mainly used for manned
space flight missions, was developed from the LM-2E launch vehicle,
which in turn was based on the proven flight technology of the LM-2C
launch vehicle. Conceptual design of the LM-2E launch vehicle began in
1986, and the vehicle was launched on the world launch services market
following a successful test flight in July 1990.
- On November 19, 1999, a LM-2F vehicle performed the first
successful, unmanned, test flight of a Chinese manned space capsule.
- On October 15, 2003, Shenzhou 5 successfully accomplished the
China's first manned spaceflight. Sept. 25, 2008 saw the successful
launch of the Shenzhou 7, and China's first space walk.
