Summary:

• Launch from KSC; landing on Edwards AFB; the landing site was switched to Edwards after three days of wave offs at KSC due to unacceptable weather conditions; ISS-14-UF2, MPLM; docking on the ISS; Korzun, Whitson and Treshchyov as "Expedition-5" new resident crew of the ISS; one of the four control moment gyroscopes failed, but no safety problems; first EVA by Chang-Diaz and Perrin on June 9, 2002 (7h 14m) to install a Power and Data Grapple Fixture to the station's P6 truss, to gather six micrometeorid debris shields from the shuttle cargo bay and to store them temporarily on the PMA-1; Chang-Diaz conducted a visual and photographic inspection of the failed gyroscope; second EVA by the same duo on June 11, 2002 (5h), to complete the installation of the second component of Canada's Remote Servicing System to the ISS; they connected power and data cables to the newly installed Mobile Base System (MBS) and bolt it to the Mobile Transporter; they also relocated a TV-camera; third EVA again by Chang-Diaz and Perrin on June 13, 2002 (7h 17m) to replace a faulty wrist-roll joint on Canadarm2.
• Delivery of the new crew, Leonardo Multipurpose Logistics Module (with cargo and supplies) and the Mobile Remote Servicer Base System (MBS) to ISS. Two days' landing delay because of unfavourable weather conditions.
• Orbiter 105 Endeavour will use solid motors RSRM-84 and external tank ET-113 to reach orbit; it will dock with PMA-2 on the Station and carry out the UF-2 utilization flight.

• The Mobile Base System is made by MD Robotics of Brampton, Ontario. It will be attached to the Mobile Transporter and is used to mount the SSRMS Canadarm-2 arm and heavy payloads.
• The Leonardo module carries 8 Resupply Stowage Racks and 4 Resupply Stowage Plaftorms, with equipment to be transferred to the station. It also carries two science racks: the MSG (Microgravity Science Glovebox) and Express-3, which will be installed on Destiny. Leonardo, built by Alenia Spazio in Torino, also flew on STS-102 and STS-105.
• The PGDF (Power-Data Grapple Fixture) will be installed on the P6 truss. The WRJ (Wrist Roll Joint) will be swapped with the broken one on the SSRMS arm.
• The Service Module Debris Panels (SMDP) package contains 6 panels which will be stowed on PMA-1 until a later spacewalk attaches them to the Zvezda module to protect it from space debris hits.

Mission report:

• Orbiter OV-105 Endeavour (STS-111) was launched at 21:22 UT on Jun 5, 2002. Endeavour is Station mission UF-2, to deliver the Expedition 5 crew to the Station and return the Ex-4 crew. At 21:31 UT it reached a 58 x 224 km x 51.6 deg orbit and separated from the External Tank. It coasted to apogee at 22:01 UT and carried out the OMS-2 burn to raise the orbit to 158 x 235 km.
• The crew are Ken 'Taco' Cockrell, Paul Lockhart, Franklin Chang-Diaz, and Phillipe Perrin. The Ex-5 crew are Valery Korzun, Peggy Whitson and Sergey Treshchev.
• Endeavour docked with the Station at 16:25 UT on Jun 7. The Leonardo MPLM module was attached to the Station on June 8.
• On Jun 9, Chang-Diaz and Perrin made a space walk from the Quest airlock. It was depressurized at around 1522 UTC and the hatch was opened at 1524 UTC. The suits went to battery power at 1527 UTC. The astronauts installed the PGDF grapple fixture on the P6 truss, stowed some space debris shields on the PMA-1 adapter, and prepared the Mobile Base System (MBS) in the Shuttle cargo bay. The hatch was closed at 2234 UTC and the airlock began repressurization at 2242 UTC. MBS was unberthed sometime around 22:20 UT and docked to the Mobile Transporter at 13:04 UT on Jun 10.
• On Jun 11 at about 1515 UTC the Quest was depressurized again, with Chang-Diaz and Perrin opening the hatch around the same time and going to battery power at 1520 UTC. During this spacewalk the astronauts completed setting up the MBS system. The hatch was closed at 2016 UTC and Quest was repressurized at 2020 UTC.
• The third EVA was on Jun 13, again from the Quest airlock. Depress was at 1512 UTC with hatch open probably at 1514 and battery power at 1516. The astronauts replaced the wrist roll joint on the station′s Canadarm-2 SSRMS robot arm; the old joint was stowed in Endeavour′s cargo bay for return to Earth. The hatch was closed at 2229 UTC and the airlock was repressurized at 2233 UTC.
• At around 1918 UTC on Jun 14 the Shuttle RMS unberthed the Leonardo logistics module from Unity and put it back in the cargo bay, berthing it at 2011 UTC.
• On Jun 15 the hatches between Shuttle and Station were closed at 1223 UTC, with the Ex-5 crew now aboard Station and the Ex-4 crew on the Shuttle for the trip home.
• Endeavour undocked at 1432 UTC, leaving the Station in a 389 x 399 km x 51.6 deg orbit following three reboost burns. After two days of bad weather, Endeavour was diverted to Edwards AFB in California, with a deorbit burn at 1650 UTC on Jun 19 lowering its orbit from 347 x 387 km to 34 x 386 km.
• With commander Kenneth Cockrell and pilot Paul Lockhart at the controls, Endeavour dropped out of a crystal blue sky and landed at 01:57:41 pm. EDT (17:57:41 UT) on Runway 22 at Edwards Air Force Base, Calif. Mission duration was 13 days 20 hours 34 minutes and 52 seconds. They bring back the Exp.4 crew Onufrienko, Walz and Bursh which made a US record of 195 days 16 hours 33 minutes in space.
• The Shuttle Carrier Aircraft returned Endeavour from California to Kennedy Space Center on Jun 28-29; Endeavour is now in the OPF being inspected for plumbing cracks.
