Soyuz MS-06 backup

Description:

• SOYUZ MS-06 is a Soyuz spaceflight launched on 13 September 2017 that transported three members of the Expedition 53 crew to the International Space Station. MS-06 was the 135th flight of a Soyuz spacecraft.

Mission details:

• ISS Expedition 53/54.
• On Sep 12, 2017 Soyuz MS-06 was launched from Baykonur with astronauts Aleksandr Misurkin, Mark Vande Hei, and Joe Acaba. The Soyuz docked at the Poisk module at 02:55 UTC and the hatch to ISS was opened at 05:08 UTC.
• Soyuz MS-06 undocked on Feb 27, 2018 at 2308 UTC and landed in Kazakhstan Feb 28 at 0231 UTC. It returned astronauts Misurkin, Vande Hei and Acaba to Earth.

• The Soyuz capsule landed on the cold wintery steppes of Kazakhstan. They were quickly joined by recovery crews flying in by helicopter and were carefully retrieved from the cramped descent module. For Soyuz commander Alexander Misurkin, he now has his second spaceflight complete. He took part in a record-breaking Russian EVA on February 2, and now has a total of 4 spacewalks in his resumé. Astronaut Joe Acaba has now completed three spaceflights, with three EVAs total. Astronaut Mark Vende Hei has completed his first space mission, and now has a fantastic four EVAs to his credit.
