Mission:
Cargo supplies delivery. The cargo vehicle delivered about 2.2 tons of payload to the Space Station (the 2nd cargo ship to ISS), including propellant for refuelling the ISS Russian Segment modules tanks, crew food products, water, drugs reserves, television system, life support, thermal control, atmospheric revitalization, power supply, water supply, personal hygienic, harmful impurities removal systems units and devices. Docking with 2nd attempt in manual TORU-mode (TeleOperated Control) after fault of automatic docking system.

Processing of the Progress M1-4 cargo vehicle is in progress for launch to the ISS.

Mission details:

The Progress M1-4 cargo ship was launched at 0132:36 UTC on Nov 16, 2000. The vehicle is probably spacecraft Progress M1 No. 253. Progress M1-4 made rendezvous with the Station on Nov 18. After problems with the automatic system, Gidzenko took over manual control with the remote TORU system at 03:02 UTC. After one failed attempt when M1-4 got to only 5m from docking at 03:09 UTC, docking was successfully achieved at 03:48 UTC at Zarya's nadir port. The problem with the TORU system is that the TV camera on the Progress, which Gidzenko uses to steer the vehicle with, is not that great and tends to ice up quickly when the Progress is in shadow.
Progress M1-4 undocked from ISS on Dec 1, 2000 at 16:23 UT. The vehicle remains in orbit.
Progress M1-4 redocked to Zarya's nadir port on Dec 26 at 10:54 UTC. The redocking testing out a fix to software that caused problems in the vehicle's first docking attempt on Nov 18. Expedition One Pilot Yuriy Gidzenko completed the docking manually using the remote control TORU system. (Gidzenko is designated "Soyuz Commander" by the US, but "Pilot" in the most recent Energia press release).
Progress M1-4 undocked from Zarya's nadir port at 1126 UTC on Feb 8, 2001.
