Uses a new aerial design consisting of 2 ultra lightweight reflectors using Hughes' proprietary Contured Surface Technonlogy. Instead of conventional chemical rocket motors, Astra 1G incorporates a Xenon ion-drive for high power and reduced launch weight. But for security both standard and Xenon propulsion was installed.
