During the first launch countdown attempt on Feb. 16,2007 the launch pad 17B mobile
service tower is retracted in preparation for liftoff of the ULA Delta 2
rocket carrying the THEMIS spacecraft. The countdown would be scrubbed a
few minutes before launch time due to unfavorable upper level winds.
The ULA Delta 2 rocket blasts off at 6:01 p.m. from Cape Canaveral's pad 17B
carrying NASA's five THEMIS spacecraft.
